OUT AND ABOUT: POST-NEMO
After Winter Storm Nemo hit, Boston started to show signs of life on Sunday. It helped there was sunshine and the temperature seemed to increase by fifteen degrees overnight. I left the confines of room 536 to see what was happening out of doors.
Most everything was still closed except the occasional Starbucks and thankfully my local Wholefoods. The metro was still stopped, museums still empty and it was up to the proprietors to decide if they wanted to reopen.
I was completely unprepared in the footwear department and lucked out as Charlie had given me one of his (many) scarves as I left NYC, the stylish Bostonians post-Blizzard wardrobe is Hunter Wellingtons and leggings. By the end of my walk I had wet running shoes and my wool socks needed a day and a half to dry out!

Little Nemo followed me to Edinburgh, the day after I got back we had some ‘snow’ a light dusting probably about 2 centimetres, it was gone by the afternoon as the rain had moved in.

BACK
Hello loyal readers. I am back in the U.K.- it was a longer than expected adventure getting back to Ben, but I am pleased to be home. I arrived last Tuesday after an unexpected extended stay in Boston. Ben was waiting for me at the airport with a hug and a flat-white in hand. We enjoyed a cab ride home and then I went to sleep!
It took me a few days to feel like me again- it was harder bouncing back from the jet-lag this trip. Luckily I had a packed week at the office, I had to be in for 9, every day. The welcome home Negronis probably did not help.
I am in the country until the February 27 when I take off for my longest adventure yet. Three weeks in South America and India without a stop at home.
I hope to be back to regular posting- I have loads of photos to share from Thailand, D.C. and New York.

OUT AND ABOUT: PRE-NEMO
After almost a week in the U.S., I arrived in Boston last Monday, I was going to be joined by my mom, but my amazing grandmother passed away and my mom quickly had other priorities. I still had the pleasure of spending a week in Boston and then some more time.
I popped out to enjoy the scenery of the city. It was a sunny day and Boston Common was sun-dappled and very chilly. Can’t you just see the cold?
I enjoyed a birthday meal at Atlantic Fish Co. where I enjoyed the Maine Lobster Roll, it was delicious, so good in fact, I went back to Atlantic Fish Co. for some lump crab, where they put it into a sandwich with brie cheese and pistachio pesto. How could I make this at home- how do they perfectly grill the brioche?

OUT AND ABOUT: NEMO
I am in Boston for Blizzard 2013 which they have lovingly named Nemo- comes in like a Clown Fish and leaves like… who knows, I have not left yet and neither has Nemo.
After five years of travelling for my job, this is the first time I have had any weather-related delays. I was not even grounded during the volcanic ash storm of 2009.
I ventured out this morning to take some photos of a snow-capped Boston. I did not have proper footwear- I should have listened to to Ben and lugged my Bean boots with me.
I missed my trip to Toronto because all flights were cancelled. The hotel I am at has been more than accommodating, they even have a Storm Stayers rate.
I am booked on a flight home on Monday. Looking forward to getting back to Ben and our easy-breezey routine.
